It wouldn&#8217;t be Wednesday without a fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never to massage your earholes with an hour of Oilers-adjacent nonsense. This week, I talked a little bit more about the Dogs for Dogs charity campaign, the <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2024/12/17/ugly-third-period-costs-oilers-need-more-from-evan-bouchard-and-mattias-ekholm/">Oilers&#8217; cursed third period against the Florida Panthers</a>, Zach Hyman&#8217;s poor face, and a whole lot more.
Now that the Dogs for Dogs charity bit is settled and set for January, I started the podcast with a quick update on where we&#8217;re at regarding the per-hot dog pledges and where I think we could still end up. If I&#8217;m being honest, the fact that anybody is willing to support this nonsense idea with real money is beyond me, but now that we&#8217;re here, I&#8217;m vowing to do my best to raise as much money as possible.
Turning the podcast back to the Oilers, I started the news with a podcast confession about <a href="https://publish.oilersnation.com/2024/12/16/instant-reaction-oilers-blow-lead-and-fall-to-panthers/">Monday&#8217;s loss to the Florida Panthers</a>. You may have thought it was the team&#8217;s fault that they fell apart in the third period and lost the game, but the real story features a lot more big curse energy. Either way, losing to the Panthers the way the boys did was a turd in the punchbowl on what was otherwise a fantastic week. You win some, you lose some, I guess.
Finally, I wrapped up this quick episode of BLTN with a Righteous Sack Beating about spam calls before wrapping up the show with another round of voicemails. I swear that if my phone rings, there&#8217;s a better than 60% chance that it&#8217;s going to be a garbage call, and it&#8217;s incredibly annoying. The inbox was quieter this week, but I still got a healthy chuckle from your ideas and feedback. As always, I sat back and laughed while listening to everything that&#8217;s been on your mind over the last seven days.
